I abide by these codes of practice as a member of UKCP, EATA, and Metanoia.

A good start is to
  1. Check their Qualifications
  2. Check their membership of professional organisations
  3. Don’t be afraid to ASK QUESTIONS. A good therapist will be happy to answer them. If they’re not, look elsewhere!

It’s so important to choose a responsible, well-trained counsellor/therapist.

I personally would AVOID choosing a therapist who wasn’t clear about their ethics, their qualifications, or that I simply didn’t trust. I wouldn’t want you to do that, either. So, even if you don’t decide to go into therapy or counselling right now, please remember to look for ethical and professional therapists.
